The Nissan Sylphy

The Nissan Sylphy (previously known as Nissan Bluebird Sylphy) is a compact car. Currently in its third generation, it is the successor of the Nissan Pulsar, with the second generation still manufactured for certain markets.

Bluebird Sylphy was renamed in 2012 bearing the name Nissan Sylphy.
Nissan already has a compact car in the presence of the Sentra. But that’s in the late 1980s. Now, Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) marked the discontinuation of the Sentra name in favor of the Sylphy. This new car is the 7th Generation of Nissan’s C (compact family car) car. To end the confusion, foreign examples of the Sentra, the Sylphy and even the Pulsar are the same generation, but just have different names for different markets.

The Sylphy measures in at 4615mm long, 1760mm wide and 1495mm tall, making it one of the largest in its category which includes the Civic, Elantra, and the others. The Wheelbase is at 2700mm and the wheels are 17-inches on the Sylphy 1.8L CVT variant.

Well, we can say that this car is a well-designed vehicle. Other compact cars now are designed to be as futuristic, athletic and sporty as possible, but Sylphy distinguishes itself by making it more expensive looking. Soft but defined curves and chrome details blend to create a design that resembles a premium category.

The interior on the other hand looks like a car on a category with higher price and size. No masculine seats, but the look was just well contoured and premium leather all around. The materials feel of quality. The space is very good for bulky stuff.

The fuel economy is pretty decent; in the city the Sylphy 1.8L CVT was able to achieve 8.7 km/l in moderate traffic (23 km/h average speed) and 12.2 km/l on the highway (95 km/h average speed). If you were a little more patient on the highway, you can achieve 14.2 km/l (68 km/h average speed).

And the most exciting part of Sylphy is the pricing. A very great deal for a car that will not go beyond a million peso mark. And it is available at any car dealership in the Philippines.
